On one of my many excursions to Salem, Massachusetts – my favorite place – I took a very long walk to see some history. After getting off the train on an early weekend morning (before the October festivities downtown truly began) I wanted to scope out a few sights that sounded interesting.

What now is an open field in Milton, Massachusetts – just about 9 miles south of the center of Boston, Massachusetts – once belonged to Thomas Hutchinson, the last royal governor of Massachusetts. Hutchinson was a loyalist who truly became the person to blame for the revolutionary fervor that hit the colony
